God created a marvelous world full of wonderful sights and people. He is the Creator and it is His Palette of beauty that I try to capture as photographic images. Images of nature or images of people and their lives – both reflect the handiwork of the Creator.
My family and I live in the wonderful city of Visalia, California – part of the great Central Valley. We are immediately surrounded by agriculture and all the hard working people that feed our world. A short distance away are the grand Sierra Nevada mountains, impressive National Parks and, wider still, the vast diversity that California has to offer.
I am part of the family that owns the L.E. Cooke Co Wholesale Nursery – a leader in the horticulture industry of North America. Even on the job, my camera is always near by. My photos for the nursery trade have been published in print and used on the websites of nurseries across America.
Since Christ captured my heart in 1970, I have been active as a member and leader in His church and its missions. Since I take a lot of photos wherever I am, you will find references in my blog and photo galleries to the life and work of Christ followers locally and around the world. It is rewarding to see my photography used as a resource that the church uses in its communications and message. Plus photos of all the fun and worthwhile things we do are shared among members and friends.
In my early years I focused on nature and landscape photography and still love it. Over time though, I have found a real joy in capturing precious moments in lives of people and look forward to these special events. I now shoot Weddings, senior portraits, graduations, family gatherings, maternity and special events. In my commitment for excellence, I will not shoot more than four to five weddings a year to provide the attention to detail and followup that is required for such an important milestone event in the lives of the couple.
Second, why Blog? There is a story behind every photo. That is probably why I find it so hard to throw any away. Sometimes the story just needs to be told.
